SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST PRACTITIONER Newport County Regional Special Education Program (1979 - Present) 1 Frank Coelho Drive, Portsmouth, RI 02871 - (401)683-3570 Dr. Willis provides a full range of school psychological services including psycho-educational evaluations, counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, violence risk assessment, functional behavior analysis, behavior programming, social skills training, staff in-service training, and work with parents. In the course of his employment in Portsmouth, he has developed and implemented anger management, peer mediation, and problem solving training programs for high school students. He has also provided social skills training for elementary school classes. Following the school shootings in Columbine and other communities Dr. Willis consulted with the Portsmouth School and Police Departments and other town officials to develop a violence prevention and crisis intervention policy for the schools. In the late 90s he was instrumental in developing an Alternative Learning Program at Portsmouth High School and is currently collaborating with other professionals at Portsmouth High School on a behavioral support program for students with significant behavioral needs. The Bradley School - Middletown (September 1997 - June 1998) Middletown, RI After seventeen years as a specialist-level practitioner Dr. Willis returned to graduate school for doctoral training. Part of his additional training was an internship at The Bradley School in Middletown (now Portsmouth) Rhode Island. His responsibilities included; psycho-educational evaluations, group and individual counseling, behavioral programming, social skills training, and consultation with staff. The Bradley School is a day school for children with Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Aspergers Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Tourettes Syndrome, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, severe Behavior Disorders, and other psychiatric conditions. Walden University Courses Taught: Tests and Measurements (PSYC 6315): (Spring 2005 to present.) This 5 credit graduate course covers
the psychometric properties of tests, including reliability and validity, as well as the basic tenets of intelligence
and personality assessment. This course is taught completely on line. Psychological Assessment; Cognitive (PSYC 6341) (Summer quarter 2005) This 5 credit graduate course
covers the measurement of intelligence, focusing on the administration of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and the
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children. While much of this course is taught on line, there was a two-week face-to-face
residency where the students were taught the specifics to administering the various tests. ADJUNCT PROFESSOR
